Jersey City's Master Plan Re-Evaluates Newport Mall
The city could be saying goodbye to the mall in the future to make way for waterfront access.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Jersey City's Newport Center Mall could be fading out of the city's plans.
Drafts of the Jersey City master plan show the possibility of the mall being turned into a mixed-use lot to make way for residential buildings, green space and commercial buildings to open the plot up for access to the waterfront.
A showcase of the Jersey City Master plan is scheduled for Sept. 15.

The Master Plan includes re-envisioning the Newport Mall area as well as the Hudson Mall and Stadium Plaza, according to NJ.com. City officials told the outlet that they plan on working with the property owners on the best approach.
