Progress Pride Flag Painted Across Jersey City Hall Crosswalk

JERSEY CITY, NJ — The Hudson County Pride Center celebrated its Pride month with some color — the crosswalk in front of City Hall is now draped in the colors of the Progress Pride Flag.

The Hudson County Pride Center brought together elected officials and volunteers to paint the crosswalk as well as police to celebrate pride. The Progress Pride flag is a variation of the original rainbow pride flag that includes black, brown, light blue, pink, and white stripes to represent marginalized people of color, trans individuals, and those living or who died of HIV/AIDS.

The painted crosswalk joins two other community art pieces on Summit & Carlton and Ege Ave & MLK.

Jersey City approved an ordinance that makes all single-stall bathrooms in the city gender-neutral, in an effort to make Jersey City even more inclusive and welcoming to the LGBTQ+ community.
