Union City Man Charged With Arson of Yeshiva and Synagogue
The prosecutor's office said there was no evidence that it was a bias incident.
UNION CITY, NJ — A Union City man was charged with arson in connection with a fire set a Yeshiva and synagogue in the city.
Oswaldo Domingo Xil-Argueta, 29 of Union City, was charged with aggravated arson in the first degree.
On July 3, a fire was set at a Jewish synagogue and the Mesivta Sanz Yeshiva on 34th Street in Union City. There was no one in the building at the time and no injuries, however, the fire did escalate to two-alarms, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.

Xil-Argueta was arrested at 325 34th Street in Union City just after 4 a.m. on July 5. He will be held in jail before the trial as a judge deemed him a danger to the community.
