Bergen Man Admits Fatally Stabbing Girlfriend In 2022: Officials

Nile Diakos faces up to 30 years in New Jersey State Prison for the murder of his girlfriend, officials said.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A local man pled guilty to the murder of his girlfriend in 2022, according to authorities.

Nile Diakos, 35, confessed to stabbing his girlfriend Alicia Arnone to death in her apartment on March 26, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said Friday.

Diakos, arrested and charged with first-degree murder following the incident, pled guilty to the offense, and faces up to 30 years in prison, Musella said.

His sentencing is scheduled for May 22, the prosecutor's office said.

He was the second charged with the offense after authorities learned that witnesses had misidentified the person involved with Armone's death, Patch reported.

One of the witnesses recanted previous statements and later identified Diakos as the suspect, the report said. The previously identified suspect was released from police custody.
