Jefferson Man Gets 25 Years for Paramus Resident's Death
Ronnie Fedo must serve 85% of his sentence under "no early release" policy.

Ronnie Fedo, 34, of Lake Hopatcong, was sentenced on Friday to 25 years in prison for the murder of Paramus resident Nisan Ambaroglu, the owner of the Getty gas station on Route 15 in Jefferson.
Judge Stuart Minkowitz imposed the sentence after hearing from both assistant prosecutor Brian DiGiacomo and Fedo’s attorney, Joseph Afflitto, Sr. Minkowitz also heard statements from Fedo and his mother, Susan Lally and from Marut Ambaroglu and Talar Sarafian, son and cousin of the victim.
Fedo accepted a plea agreement of aggravated manslaughter in exchanged for having the more serious charge of felony murder dropped. Under the agreement, Fedo must serve 85 percent of his sentence, which amounts to 21 years, three months and one day before being eligible for parole. He was given credit for 249 days served.

Gerard Misk, attorney for the Ambaroglu family, said they were pleased with the outcome.
“They are pleased with the work of the prosecutor and are grateful to the judge for doing what had to be done in this case,” Misk said.

Afflito said he didn’t have much more to add to what had been said in court.
“I thought the kid deserved more consideration than he got,” Afflito said. “He’s not a violent person. This was a bad situation that came to a horrible ending. Obviously the judge was concerned with his prior history.”
Fedo had other brushes with the law, including drug arrests and providing false information to a law enforcement official.
