Bergen County Cop Featured On Podcast To Talk Anti-Drug Program

PARAMUS, NJ — A Paramus police officer was recently featured in a podcast episode hosted by New Jersey radio host Joe Piscopo discussing his experience teaching students about the dangers of drugs and violence.

During the episode earlier this month, Detective Lt. Jimmy Teehan shared how he was impacting students teaching them anti-drug, anti-violence curriculum delivered by the national nonprofit Law Enforcement Against Drugs, a news release said.

Teehan, who is part of the Paramus L.E.A.D. program, was a guest on "A Police Officer You Should Know With Joe Piscopo," a show launched by the nonprofit.

A former L.E.A.D. Instructor of the Year, Teehan talked about how his teaching experience has "strengthened his relationship with children in school and with the Paramus community," the release said.

Also the head of the Community Policing Division in Paramus, Teehan is a 25-year law enforcement veteran. He teaches L.E.A.D. curriculum over the course of a 10-week program to hundreds of fifth-grade students at East Brook and West Brook Middle Schools.

The L.E.A.D. program, which "educates children on how to make smart decisions without involvement of drugs or violence," is intended to bring communities and police forces closer together, the release said.
