Letter to the Editor: 'I'd like to congratulate the Paramus Board of Education for ... reconsider[ing] the contract of ... Ken Rota.'

Dear Editor,

I’d like to congratulate the Paramus Board of Education for its decision Tuesday night to reconsider the contract of Superintendent Ken Rota.

There is a great deal of division in the community and on the board; the decision last night to delay a vote on the contract issue until Feb. 23 allows for a more thoughtful consideration of the issue.

It is unfortunate that the meeting Tuesday was marred by disruption from a sometimes unruly gathering of residents, all of whom are concerned about a critically important issue for our community.

The board’s decision to reconsider their earlier decision is a step to calming the waters.
