The Defensive MVP went to Marquise Watson of Paramus Catholic High School. Watson was easily the most impactful player in this game. The linebacker put jarring hits on opposing running backs, kept constant pressure on the quarterback and even came away with an interception.

“I wasn’t trying to be the best player out there, I just wanted to do my part and play my role,” said Watson. “It’s great to represent for my squad. North New Jersey football is not just the best in the state or the region, North Jersey football is the best in America.”

Watson wasn’t the only player from Bergen county to contribute. Younghoe Koo of Ridgewood was called on for a 28-yard field goal, which he drilled and hit each of the five extra points he attempted.

John Hinchen of Northern Highland did his job as punter while Charles Simons of Pal Park and Naiquan Thomas of Dwight Morrow did their job shutting down opposing receivers. Mark Manente of Pascack Valley played his role well when he stepped in at linebacker.

Andy Labudev of Cresskill and Shawn Flaherty of St. Joseph Regional were both part of a stout offensive line that kept their quarterbacks upright all night.
