Bergen Class Sees Near-Nude Pics When Teach Forgets Projector: Report

As students did independent work, he set about an independent activity of his own, according to a new report.

PARAMUS, NJ — A teacher was placed on leave after he had accidentally showed images of scantily clad women on a projector screen for his students, according to school officials and a northjersey.com report.

The Paramus High School health teacher, who was not identified, accessed the "inappropriate material" on his laptop, which, he did not realize, was still connected to the wireless projector in the classroom, Superintendent Sean Adams said of the Thursday incident.

The teacher was placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation, Adams said in a Tuesday letter to the community.

"I regret that the students in the class, and now many other students and families, have been subjected to this inappropriate material," the letter read, adding that the incident had been recorded by students and posted to social media.

"Counseling support is and will continue to be made available for any student impacted by this incident."

He said he wanted to make "abundantly clear" that the material displayed was not connected to the lesson or curriculum, and that the teacher was acting outside the scope of his professional responsibilities.

At the time of the incident, the students were working independently, as regular instruction had been completed, the superintendent said.

The families of students in the classroom were notified by the principal about the matter the same day, and the following day, Adams notified the full school community. He also provided details from his report at Monday's Board of Education meeting.

"Once the investigation has concluded," he said, "I will report my findings and my recommendations to the Board of Education."
