Police Chase Vehicle Burglary Suspect Through Backyards: PD

PARAMUS, NJ — Police charged a man with burglary and eluding after he tried to enter cars near Lambert Place early Thursday morning.

Jose Cereno Del Rio, 18, of Passaic was arrested after police chased him through several backyards. Police were there because they got a report about two men trying to enter cars near Lambert Place, said Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg.

Officers Chris Bores and Mike Mordaga was one of the suspects, Del Rio, and chased him; they were unable to find the other suspect, Ehrenberg said.

Del Rio was arrested, charged, and taken to the Bergen County Jail pending a bail hearing.

Authorities determined that several vehicles in the area were entered and ransacked, the chief said. A Walnut Street resident who lives near Lambert Place, told police at 9:45 a.m. Thursday that his 2008 Kia Sorrento was stolen out of his driveway overnight.

"Once again the Paramus Police Department advises all residents to lock their cars and make sure they do not leave their keys of fobs in their vehicles," Ehrenberg said.
