WowMoms World Bringing Fun For Moms And Kids To Paramus

It will be the first NJ franchise for the Canadian-based company. Two New Milford moms are the co-owners.

PARAMUS, NJ — Katie Lennon was looking for a comfortable place to breastfeed and spend quality time with her infant away from home.

She couldn't find one near her New Milford home, so she decided to start one.

Lennon and her friend and neighbor, Stephanie Torossian are opening the first WowMoms World franchise in New Jersey.

Torossian heard about WowMoms World, a Canadian-based company that offers parent-and-child fitness and yoga classes, flotation therapy for infants, and cafes at its franchises.

Lennon visited the company's headquarters and first location and fell in love with it.

"This is a place that I would have loved to have gone to," Lennon said. "It doesn't have 'technology play' for kids. It's back to basics. It's creative, interactive play and offers bonding time with your child."

The 6,200 square-foot location at 154 Route 4 West is slated to open in the fall. There are five WowMoms World locations in both Canada and the United States, in Texas, Florida, and New York, and another in Mexico City. Fifteen more franchises are under construction in North America.

"We wanted to pick a place where mothers are comfortable going to, and Paramus is a family-centered town," Lennon said. "People know Paramus and it's a convenient place for families."

CEO and Co-Founder Joelle Lavigne opened the first WowMoms World in Quebec in 2016. The business took off and soon they were inundated with requests from potential franchisees, including 50 from New Jersey.

"We met with each one of them," Lavigne said. "We don't choose franchises based on location, we do it based on people, and we really fell in love with Stephanie and Katie. We depend on our franchisees to know the location and demographics of the area they want to be in."
