Morris County Will Begin Renewing Notaries
The appointment-only program aims to prevent notary expirations
MORRIS COUNTY – The Morris County Clerk's Office announced it will begin renewing notary public commissions for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Existing notaries in the county previously received a 90-day grace period to renew their commissions, and Morris County Clerk Ann Grossi said the decision aimed to prevent the expiring of notary licenses in a safe manner.
"Our office does not want anyone to lapse," Grossi said, in a press release. "By offering staggered appointments, limiting the number of people entering the office...we will help eliminate the spread of the virus and provide necessary services to preserve those notaries whose commissions are lapsing.”
In addition to the staggered appointment schedule, the office is adding a separate service area, hand sanitizer dispensers, protective gear for employees, and glass dividers between staff and visitors.
