2 Attempted Car Thefts In Summit Last Week: Police
Two residents had their cars broken into on Friday, according to Summit Police.

SUMMIT, NJ — Two Summit residents found their cars broken into on Friday, according to the most recent Summit Police blotter.
The last car theft in Summit took place on Friday, Sept. 30 when a white 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen from a Morris Avenue business, according to Summit Police.

Although car thefts and burglaries have seemingly slowed down in the last few months, two attempted thefts occurred on Friday, according to police.
In the first incident, a resident on Sheridan Road told police that someone entered their car, which was unlocked, overnight on Friday. Police said the resident noticed at around 8 a.m. that the driver's side door was ajar and the center console and glove compartment were open with papers on the seats.

At the time of the report, nothing was noted taken from the vehicle, police said.
Then at around 11:45 p.m. on Friday, a resident on Lorraine Place told police that they saw a man wearing a grey-hooded sweatshirt enter their 2022 black BMX 540 and attempt to start it.
Police said when the suspect saw the resident watching through the window, he fled the scene.
At the time of the report, police said said that a cellphone charging wire was taken — valued at $10.
