Stolen BMW Rams Into Summit Police Car Then Flees Scene
After hitting the Summit detective's unmarked car, the driver fled the scene and sped onto Route 24, according to police.

SUMMIT, NJ — When a Summit Police detective was surveilling a stolen BMW Thursday afternoon, the driver rammed into the police car and fled the scene, according to police.
The detective was surveilling the BMW stolen out of Montville in an unmarked police car at around 12 p.m. The detective was attempting to pull over the car at the intersection of Watchung Place and Tulip when he was hit by the driver, according to Summit Police.
Two Summit Police units stopped pursuing the driver when they lost sight of it on Route 24.

Summit Police said the detective was not injured.
