PALISADES PARK, NJ — A Palisades Park man was arrested Wednesday for a sexual assault of a child in Bergen County last month, prosecutors said. Emerson D. Perez Garcia, 23, of Palisades Park, was charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child said Bergen County prosecutors. Prosecutors said that last Monday, the Palisades Park Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit regarding an alleged sexual assault of a juvenile that had occurred last month in that town. After an investigation, he was charged with second-degree sexual assault and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child on Wednesday. On Thursday, Garcia surrendered at the Palisades Park Police Department. He was taken to the Bergen County Jail to await a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack.
