Teaneck Man Charged In Hit-And-Run That Killed Woman As She Crossed Street
A Teaneck resident has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run that killed an Englewood woman, prosecutors said.
TEANECK, NJ — A Teaneck man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run that killed an Englewood woman who was crossing the street, prosecutors said.
Jevon M. Bryant, 35, has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and other charges, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office on Monday.
Police found Bernardita Garcia, 70, of Englewood lying in a roadway on Thursday, Nov. 21 just before 7 p.m. after several people called 911, prosecutors said.

Police determined that she had been struck by a vehicle that left the scene.
Garcia was taken to Holy Name Hospital, where she was ultimately pronounced dead.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit investigated.
Detectives determined that a white Honda Accord struck Garcia as she was trying to cross Cedar Lane, near the intersection with Lincoln Place.
Prosecutors said they found the vehicle this past Saturday, and identified Bryant as the driver at the time of the collison.
He was charged that day with second-degree knowingly leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, third-degree endangering an injured victim, fourth-degree obstruction of justice, and related motor vehicle offenses.
He was taken to the Bergen County Jail to await his first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack.
