Man Assaulted, Robbed Near Westfield Memorial Pool: Police

A man was assaulted by three people and robbed of $300 while walking on a trail near Memorial Pool last week, according to Westfield Police.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Last week, a man told Westfield Police that he was assaulted and robbed by three people while walking on a trail near Memorial Pool.

According to police, the man was entering the trail at around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15 when he saw three people dressed in hooded sweatshirts with masks on.

The three suspects then caught up to the man, assaulted him and held him down while robbing him of $300 worth of belongings, Westfield Police said.

The victim suffered injuries but fled the area.

Westfield Police reported the incident in its police blotter released on Tuesday. The full blotter can be viewed on Facebook.

Michael Walsh of Westfield Police said this is an active investigation by the Detective bureau, and more details will be released at a later date.
