Westfield High School Nominated for 6 Theatre Awards

Award winners will be announced at a ceremony at Montclair State University on May 11.

The Westfield High School theater department has been nominated for six “Theatre Night Awards” from Montclair State University.

The department has been nominated for its fall drama “The Laramie Project”, according to officials from Westfield Public Schools. The nominees from Westfield High School include:

  • Outstanding Production of a Drama
  • Outstanding Achievement in Lighting Design
  • Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actress in a Drama for Maddie Hudelson
  • Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actor in a Drama for Daniel Coelho
  • Outstanding Achievement by an Acting Ensemble
  • Outstanding Achievement in Stage Direction for Drama teacher, Daniel Devlin.

Montclair State University created its annual “Theatre Night” to recognize excellence in the production of high school and middle school non-musical plays throughout New Jersey. According to the university, the awards honor both the accomplishments of students and educators in the areas of performance, direction, design, and technical theatre, as well as outstanding productions in the following genres: Drama, Comedy, Classical, and New Work.
