CVS Plan, Sign Law, Zoning Changes Coming This Week
Here's a look at the week ahead in Westwood, Washington Township and Hillsdale.

Editor's note: Tuesday's Washington Township Zoning Board meeting was canceled.
The Washington Township Zoning Board is scheduled to continue hearing a plan to build a new CVS on the corner of Washington Avenue and Pascack Road during their meeting this week.
At the previous hearing, architect Robert Gehr testified about the proposed . It would include earth tones and windows designed to look more like those found on houses to fit in with the residential neighborhood. Lighting would also be designed so it will not spill onto other nearby properties, he said.

Board members expressed concern about some of the features, which Gehr is expected to address during this week's meeting.

Washington Town Center Signs
The Washington Township Council is scheduled to introduce a new ordinance which would for businesses in the .
Business owners in the strip mall requested the change because the current signs, which — other than sign — are hard to read because they are all blue and written in the same font, owners said. Having more variety and more legible signs will help draw new customers, they said.
The proposed change would allow signs with more colors, different fonts and logos. Business owners would still need approval from the landlord and the township before they can install new signs.
The Washington Township Council meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Municipal Complex.
Westwood Zoning Laws
The Westwood Council is scheduled to introduce five new ordinances during their meeting this week which will change some of the borough's zoning and sign laws.
Changes were suggested by the Westwood Planning Board after they completed their re-examination of the borough's Master Plan last year. The council has already adopted some of the changes, including one which allows and others which create more permitted business uses.
The proposed changes include amending sign regulations, changing some permitted uses and allowing temporary signs near the hospital.
