Get Your Pets Blessed at Pawsfest Sunday
The event invites families to bring their pets to Grace Episcopal Church in Westwood and raises money for local charity peace4paws.
Peace4paws, a Westwod-based charity which helps former research animals, is holding their second annual Pawsfest at Grace Episcopal Church Sunday.
Pets are invited to join their owners at the event. Father Rob Rhodes will be blessing pets for most of the day. There will also be adoptable dogs, cats and rabbits from several different organizations, photography by Wendy Erickson and the "Canine Good Citizen Test" by Amanda Berk of Amanda's No Tricks Just Treats.
The festival will feature a variety of activities, including games for both dogs and people, giveaways, and food from Hanami, Jack's Cafe, Your Way Cafe and Twist Frozen Yogurt.

Peace4paws helps former research animals by assisting in their search for homes and by raising money for groups which care for them. Since Westwood resident Jennifer Cece Bellon founded the group in 2007, they have donated to nearby efforts, including the Mylestone Equine Rescue in Phillipsburg, N.J. and the Hudson Valley Humane Society in Pomona, N.Y. They have also supported the Kindness Ranch in Wyoming, which has 1,000 acres and takes dogs, cats, sheep, pigs, horses, rabbits and other animals.
Pawsfest will take place from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Grace Episcopal Church on Harrington Avenue. A $5 donation is suggested for adults attending the event.
