Westwood Man Charged With Aggravated Sexual Assault

WESTWOOD, NJ — A borough man was arrested during a child sexual assault investigation, authorities announced.

Christian Pena-Ortiz, 20, a student, was charged with two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, said acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo.

The New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency received information Friday that Pena-Ortiz engaged in sexual contact with a child younger than 13, Calo said.

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit investigated and arrested Pena-Ortiz Monday, Calo said.

Pena-Ortiz is being lodged in the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack Tuesday.
