Bergen Weather: Advisory In Place With Weekend Snow Possible

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — With severe weather possible this weekend across New Jersey, the National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for most of Bergen County.

A low pressure system could bring heavy snowfall and high winds Friday night into Saturday, the NWS said.

Low windchills for Saturday night could bring the rapid onset of frostbite on exposed skin. The windchills could dip below 0 Saturday night, with potential values of -15 in northwest New Jersey.

Much of North Jersey could get 4-6 inches, according to forecasters. However, significant changes to the weather models are possible, the NWS added.

Here is the National Weather Service forecast for Thursday-Sunday.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 29. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. South wind 3 to 6 mph.

Thursday night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 22. Light southwest wind.

Friday: A 20 percent chance of snow after 1 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 35. Wind chill values between 25 and 30. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Friday Night: Snow likely, mainly after 1 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 13. Wind chill values between 5 and 10. North wind 6 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Saturday: Snow likely, mainly before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 21. North wind 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 9.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 26.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 11.
