Borough Drafting Pool-Fencing Ordinance
Enforcement to be contingent on sale of the home.

Residents' spoke and the council listened. A proposed new ordinance to require fencing around all pools is being drafted to allow for transfer of property ownership to be the trigger incident the requires action.
In February, the borough council began fact-finding mission to determine how best to go about bringing older pools into compliance with the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code. Pools built prior to 1977 are grandfathered exceptions to the law that requires newer pools to be enclosed by a 4-foot fence on the property.
Several residents spoke before the council and expressed the expense of a new fencing would pose a financial hardship, primarily to senior citizens who have lived in the community for over 35 years.
