Electrical Fire Damages Wyckoff Home: Officials

An electrical fire caused by a faulty exterior outlet was reported at a single-family home Thursday in Wyckoff, authorities said.

WYCKOFF, NJ — An electrical fire caused by a faulty exterior outlet was reported at a single-family home Thursday in Wyckoff, police Lt. Joseph Soto said.

The fire in the rear of the home on New York Avenue, Soto said, caused minor damage to the siding and area surrounding the outlet.

Police and fire crews responded to the fire, the majority of which was extinguished prior to their arrival by the homeowner, authorities said.

Extra precautions were taken to ensure the fire was extinguished and had not extended to other areas of the home, police said.

"The electric was made safe and the scene was boarded up for the home's protection," the Wyckoff Volunteer Fire Department said on Facebook.
