Fire Hydrants Flushing May Discolor Tap Water
United Water to perform routine maintenance April 4 to 13.

Water quality may be affected during fire hydrant maintenance taking place between April 4 and 13, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
United Water is scheduled to perform high pressure unidirectional flushing, which is done in the opposite direction of the usual water flow to achieve more effective flushing while conserving water. The work will involve systematically opening and closing water hydrants and valves, and then letting water run until all sediment is flushed out and the water is clear.
Residents in the immediate area and in nearby neighborhoods may experience discolored water during the process. Water service should not be discontinued, however, in the event that the water needs to be turned off, United Water will notify affected residents using its Rapid Alert system.
