Funeral Will Be Friday For Bergen County Native, 28, Who Died Fighting Fire In Baltimore

Baltimore Fire Lt. Dillon Rinaldo, who grew up in Bergen County, died this month at 28 after helping a new recruit fight a fire.

NEW JERSEY — A funeral and procession will be held this Friday for Dillon Rinaldo, 28, who died earlier this month after fighting a fire in Baltimore, news outlets reported.

Rinaldo's obituary notes that he grew up in Fair Lawn, a "firehouse kid." His obituary says he "would listen to his father’s fire radio so he could try to respond to calls with his father."

He worked for Fair Lawn's fire department for six years before joining the Baltimore Fire Department in 2018. He was helping a new recruit fight a fire on Oct. 19 when he became injured, then fought for days to survive.
