Hazy, Hot and Humid With an Ozone Alert

First heatwave of the summer season brings heat advisory and air quality alert.

Ground ozone levles may approach or exceed unhealthy levels as heat and humidity take over the region Wednesday and Thursday, according to weather advisories from the National Weather Service. 

Heat and humidity levels are expected to rise significantly, with temperatures approaching triple digits during the heat of the day. Those who work outside are urged to take extra precautions.

Wednesday: Widespread haze. Sunny and hot, with a high near 97. West wind between 3 and 8 mph. 

Wednesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 69. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm. 

Thursday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3pm. Widespread haze. Mostly sunny, with a high near 96. Calm wind becoming west between 8 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. West wind around 6 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. North wind between 6 and 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday Night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 75. 

Saturday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 59. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Sunday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
