Bergen County Teens Won Merit Scholarships; See What They'll Study In College

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Each year, thousands of high-achieving students in both public and private high schools wait to see if they're among the National Merit Scholars who win $2,500 per year for college, no strings attached.

On Wednesday, the National Merit Scholarship Foundation released a list of students in New Jersey who have won a scholarship, after submitting test scores, recommendations, and more. The list was culled from thousands of semifinalists who were previously announced.

Last month, the organization also released a list of students who won scholarships sponsored by corporations. Those are listed below as well.

Here are the recent winners in Bergen County, by town.

Cresskill

National Merit Paramount Scholarship, from Paramount Global. Probable career field: Undecided.,

Daniel Levi Gilman (Honorary Merit Scholarship)

Englewood Cliffs

Sophia S. Lee, National Merit Pepsico Foundation Scholarship. Career field, medical research.

Fair Lawn

Max Trigub, probable career: civil engineering

Fort Lee

Leonard Dushenkov Glozman, probable career, environmental science

Glen Rock

Sophie He, probable career: mathematics

Mahwah

Sreesamhitha Bhamidpathi, probable career field: financial quantitative analysis

Montvale

Parth Jain, probable career: computer science

Park Ridge

Bennett Adel, probable career field: electrical engineering

Ridgewood

Yuri H. Jung, probable career: biochemistry

Mathias Nguyen-Van-Duong, probable career: engineering

Daniel Khalitov, probable career field: mathematics. He has won the National Merit James E. Casey Scholarship from the UPS Foundation, created in 1951 by United Parcel service for children of United Parcel Service employees.

Ephraim Ilan Fisher, National Merit Mary E. Beyerle Scholarship, a trust established by the estate of Mary E. Beyerle. Probable career field, law.

Semi-Finalists

Last Sept. 11, the National Merit Scholarship Board released its list of 2025 semifinalists, including Bergen County students.
