If you spot a lot of Wyckoff cops with scruffy faces, there's a good reason for it.

WYCKOFF, NJ – If you spot a lot of Wyckoff cops with scruffy faces, there’s a good reason for it.

For the rest of the month police officers are growing their beards to raise money and awareness for alopecia.

Nearly 7 million Americans live with alopecia, an autoimmune skin disease that causes hair loss on the scalp, face and other areas of the body. It affects people of all ages, both genders and all ethnic groups. Besides physical effects, people living with the condition have also grappled with self esteem issues.

Money raised by the force will be donated to help researchers find a cure and develop more treatment options.

To donate, send checks made payable to Wyckoff PBA Local 261 to Wyckoff Police Department, 1 Scott Plaza, Wyckoff.
