Nominate An Educator For Governor's Award

RIH district accepting nominations for outstanding teachers and education support personnel to be submitted to state for award.

We hear it all the time: Special teachers make lasting changes in the lives of their students. Now is your chance to let the world know about it. The Ramapo Indian Hills School District is participating in the New Jersey Governor's Teacher / Educational Services Professional Recognition Award Program, which acknowledges innovative and dedicated teachers.

Each school building can nominate either one teacher or one educational services professional to be recognized.

The criteria for selection of teachers are as follows:

  1. Hold an instructional certificate;
  2. Use of effective, innovative instructional techniques and strategies.
  3. Increase student achievement of the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards in a student-centered learning environment;
  4. Utilize educational technology in an effective and efficient manner;
  5. Establish a positive classroom climate and rapport with all students;
  6. Contribute to quality professional development in their district; and
  7. Develop feeling of self-worth and a love of learning in all students.

The criteria for selection of educational services professionals are as follows:

  1. Hold an educational services professional certificate;
  2. Interact positively with students, staff and parents while functioning as a frontline advocate for the student between home and school;
  3. Foster an appropriate environment for learning and explore creative alternatives to enable all students to achieve their fullest potential;
  4. Support student achievement of the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards by addressing the educational, social and emotional needs of all students;
  5. Contribute to quality professional development in their district; and
  6. Interact with students in ways that demonstrate professionalism while retaining respect humor, compassion and concern for the while child.

Principals will be addressing the students via an announcement regarding this program on March 21.
    
Please be advised that homeroom teachers will be distributing the nomination forms for the students’ recommendations on Tuesday, March 22. Students are encouraged to complete their nomination on their own time.  Completed forms are to be submitted by Friday, April 1.

Parents and guardians are also invited to nominate teachers by filling out a nomination form on the RIH.org website.
