Nonagenarian Who Taught At Wyckoff Church For 40 Years Dies
Linda Sanno, who taught the "Catechism" at St. Elizabeth Church and other area churches, died last week at age 97, her obituary said.

WYCKOFF, NJ — A Wyckoff nonagenarian who taught the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine, or the "Catechism," for 40 years at St. Elizabeth Church in the township, along with two other Bergen County churches, passed away last week, according to her obituary.
Linda Sanno, also a former Ho-Ho-Kus Parent-Teacher Association president and Ridgewood YMCA board member, died at age 97, her obituary published by Hawthorne's Browning-Forshay Funeral Home said.
Born and raised in the Garden State, Sanno pursued a career at Young & Rubicam Advertising, rising to become the first woman supervisor of the outdoor media department.

Sanno was also Chair of the Arts and Creative Group at the Woman's Club of Ridgewood, where she introduced Project Linus to distribute over 550 hand-knit children's blankets to area hospitals. She was an avid knitter, winning first-prize awards in statewide competitions, her obituary said.
Predeceased by her parents, 12 siblings and her husband Alfred, Sanno is survived by her daughters and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling and gardening, and was passionate about politics, helping local and state Democratic candidates campaign.

"She was full of life, an excellent cook, an engaging storyteller and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome in her home," her obituary said.
A "second Mom and advisor" to others, she will be dearly missed, her obituary added.
