Pallotta Concedes To Incumbent Gottheimer In NJ District 5 Race

WYCKOFF, NJ — Republican Frank Pallotta announced Friday that he is conceding New Jersey's 5th District race to Democratic incumbent Josh Gottheimer.

"I spoke with Rep. Josh Gottheimer today to wish him well and offer my assistance and support," Pallotta said in a Facebook post. "We talked about broadband service, Veteran services and the varied needs around the District. We also spoke about doing better as New Jerseyans, and as Americans."

As of Friday afternoon, with 95% of votes in, Gottheimer had 141,039 votes (54%), to Pallotta's 115,906 votes (44.7%), according to The New York Times.

Gottheimer offered a statement Tuesday night, thanking all of his supporters.

"From the bottom of my heart," Gottheimer said, "I will never forget your hard work — texts, calls, and getting out the vote. Tonight, common sense won. Extremism lost."

This is Pallotta's second defeat to Gottheimer in two years. In 2020, Pallotta lost to Gottheimer by nearly eight percentage points (53.2% to 45.6%).

"Elections are about a lots of things: winning, running, teaching, learning and forging life-long relationships," Pallotta said on Facebook "But for me, running for office was – and will always be - about one thing: Service."

Pallotta thanked all who helped him along the way, including his friends, advisors, volunteers, and gave special thanks to his wife Patricia Moore for her "love, trust and support."
