Patch Picks: Day Spas

If you live around here, you likely work too hard; stop by at some of the top spas in the area for a little break.

Between heavy work and family commitments, it's not easy to unwind and let troubles slip away, even if for only a moment. But given the health problems medical experts say can be exacerbated, if not entirely caused, by stress, it may be wise to drop by a local spa and let the mind and soul regenerate. Take a gander at some of the spas around the county for a bit of r&r.

Looking for organic beauty treatments? Look no further than Namaste which has been in Ridgewood since 2009. In additional to the traditional spa services, Namaste also offers special relaxation treatments for those undergoing chemotherapy treatments and also special mother/baby treatments. Staff members are also trained in reflexology and Reiki crystal healing.

This 10 Garber Square day spa has quite an extensive list of treatments, including its lauded collagen hyaluronic splendor facial, which some removes wrinkles wrought on by aging. And, if you're an expecting mom, make sure to alleviate stress and joints on muscles with Araya's pre-natal massage treatment. It's a light massage the spa says are "extremely effective and beneficial."

Green is in and Karma is your place if you're looking for the finest in organic, nature-friendly spa treatments. The spa has waxings, facials, manicures and pedicures, along with its own line of "non-toxic polishes, organic scrubs, organic lotions, and essential oils which are free of toluene, formaldehyde, and phthalate (DBP)." Many of the products can be found at Whole Foods. So head over to 32 Wilsey Square in Ridgewood and relax the natural way.

This spa on Franklin Avenue in Ridgewood has an incredible array of services ranging from seaweed body treatments, foot reflexology, signature facials, purifying back treatments, hot stone massages, waxings and everyone's favorite – traditional Swedish massages.

Massage Envy

Want to relax but not break the bank? You can get an introductory one-hour massage at any Massage Envy location for $49. There are a variety of massage styles to choose from as well as a full selection of facial treatments. There are several locations in Bergen including Paramus at the Bergen Town Center Mall, Closter, Westwood, Edgewater and Waldwick.

The Fountain Spa

Thought of a mud bath lately? Maybe you should. Head over to The Fountain Spa's Ramsey location (there's another at the Riverside Mall in Hackensack) and take one of its Deep Sea Wraps, which covers the body in mineral-rich...while you're on top of a water bed. The facility–adorned with Roman-esque columns and accents–also features a great "Couples Escape" package with side-by-side massages, facials and a nice meal in "The Tranquility Room".
