Retirements and Resignations Hit Ramapo-Indian Hills

A 21-year veteran science teacher and a music teacher are among those leaving the high schools.

The Ramapo-Indian Hills Regional High School District accepted the resignation of two district employees and the retirement of three others on Monday evening.

  • Paul Heenehan has been with the district as a physical education and health teacher, girls’ soccer coach and assistant track coach.
  • Karen DeMiceli has been with the district for seven years as a school nurse.
  • Sue Hoyt has been with the district for 21 years as a science teacher, physics I and II league advisers, environmental club adviser, science club co-adviser and a ski club adviser. 

The Board of Education said that all three had done their jobs while, “exemplifying the ideal of professionalism and the standard of excellence." 

The resignation of Amanda Lentino, an English teacher at Indian Hills High School, and Steven Zimmerman, a music teacher at Ramapo High School, was accepted and will be effective as of June 30.

Zimmerman's resignation could result in a reduction in the music program.
