All school districts in the state are required to provide services for special needs children, ages birth to 21 years.
The Franklin Lakes school district maintains a preschool program for children who are developmentally challenged, have a diagnosed disability or developmentally delayed in areas such as physical, social, communication and/or emotional.
Children who demonstrate measureable delays may benefit and require special education and related services. The preschool programs are designed to meet the unique needs of children by means of a multidisciplinary team approach.

Children who have been diagnosed prior to age 3 or are suspected to have developmental delays before or after their third birthday are determined to be eligible for special education and related services by the Franklin Lakes Child Study Team.
