WWII Veteran, Of Wyckoff, Dies At 96
Quentin Darmstadt, who served in the Second World War, died last week, his obituary said.

WYCKOFF, NJ — A World War II veteran of Wyckoff recently passed away at age 96, his obituary said.
Quentin Darmstadt, who joined the U.S. Army at age 18 and served in the Second World War, died last week, his obituary published by Vander Plaat Funeral Home said.
After the war, Darmstadt received a master's degree in mathematics from Harvard University, resuming his education through the G.I. Bill of 1944. He attended high school in Ohio, where he excelled in academics and as a varsity pole vaulter, his obituary said.

He later enjoyed success as a mathematical analyst in private and government sectors. Born in Ohio, he settled in Wyckoff after he married his wife Chai Ok (Chang) in 1973.
Although "urbane, highly educated and well-traveled," Darmstadt was always very personable, his obituary said.

"He made you feel you were the funniest and wittiest person, always ready to reward you with a twinkle in his clear blue eyes, a tip of his head back, and his uniquely joyous, sonorous laugh,"his obituary added.
Predeceased by his wife, who passed in 2013, Darmstadt is survived by his sisters- and brother-in-law, nephews and a niece.
