Wyckoff Committeeman And Former Mayor Tom Madigan Has Died, Town Says
A member of Wyckoff's Township Committee who once served as mayor has died, the town said in a statement.
WYCKOFF, NJ — Wyckoff Township Committeeman and former Mayor Thomas Madigan has died, the town said in a release on Saturday.
Madigan was re-elected to the committee last year. He was first sworn in to the Committee 15 years ago, in October 2010.
"A 42-year resident of Wyckoff, Tom brought a lifetime of volunteerism and community spirit to everything he did," wrote the Township Committee in a statement. "He coached numerous youth sports within the township’s Recreation Department and previously served as a Recreation Advisory Board member."

He was also a member of the Wyckoff-Midland Park Rotary Club and had served 12 years as a member of the Ramapo Indian Hills Board of Education.
He was an active parishioner of Saint Elizabeth’s Church, the Committee said.

He was the father of seven children (two of whom predeceased him) and grandfather of nine grandchildren, "who were his greatest joy," the town said.
Madigan survived by his wife Mary, five children, and nine grandchildren, and was predeceased by daughters Bitsy and Alicia.
The Committee said, "Tom’s leadership, kindness, and devotion to the residents of Wyckoff leave a legacy that will not be forgotten. We extend our deepest condolences to the Madigan family and ask that they be kept in everyone’s thoughts and prayers."
Flags Lowered
Town flags have been lowered to half-staff and will remain so until his burial, they said.
Information about services and burial will be available at a future date, said the Committee and Mayor Rudolf E. Boonstra.
