Press release:

The Wyckoff Y recently held its annual meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 4 to an audience of members, staff, board and local officials.

After an introduction by Board President Kevin Cornwell, a brief video was shared, followed by a presentation by Executive Director Joy Vottero and Associate Director Joyce Kwiatkowski outlining the kick-off of the Y’s new before and after school programs held onsite at Wyckoff elementary schools. They recognized the successful partnership with the Township in creating new turf fields at the rear of the Y property, and the Y’s outstanding veteran initiative.

Vottero and Kwiatkowski also presented an update on the Y’s partnership in the Franklin Lakes Community Center, which will take shape throughout the coming year, along with its collaboration with the Christian Health Care Center, the Wyckoff Board of Health and Van Dyke Health Care in presenting a series of free workshop topics that today’s families are facing.

The Y also shares a strong bond with Oasis, a Haven for Women and Children in Paterson, by hosting 75 campers each summer at no charge as well as providing life-saving swim lessons for children who may not otherwise have the opportunity to learn water safety.

The Y’s newest outreach initiative is the “Caring Community Connection” a fund established in memory of Michael O’Shea and Pietro Maugeri which will meet the needs of those in the community who have been challenged by critical illness. The “Connection” will organize various support systems and lifelines to meet a family’s needs and will be a comprehensive, community-wide effort.

Board members and officers were re-installed for a new term and guests were invited to visit exhibits from each Y department demonstrating their initiatives in child development, health and wellness, and social outreach.
