Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:

  1. Seventeen alleged gang members from across three violent street gangs were arrested in connection with shootings that resulted in 14 victims, and four deaths. The defendants will be charged with 118 total indictments related directly to the shootings. At the start of the alleged conspiracies, the 17 defendants ranged from 14 to 20 years old. (WABC-TV)
  2. A Burger King employee was attacked by a pair of suspects at a Brooklyn location. The incident occurred at the fast-food establishment in Brownsville, when the suspects grew increasingly frustrated that their food was not being prepared fast enough. The incident occurred now over a month ago, and the victim is expected to make a full recovery while the suspects remain at large. (CBS New York)
  3. A consortium of private developers recently closed on a $600 million deal that will go towards the renovation of 1,637 NYCHA housing units. The properties that will see extensive work are the Boulevard Houses, Fiorentino Plaza, and the Belmont-Sutter Area Houses. This project represents the latest effort organized through the NYCHA’s Permanent Affordability Commitment Together (PACT) initiative. (New York YIMBY)
  4. A NYC driver died, and another passenger was critically injured when their car struck a dump truck in East Williamsburg. An additional vehicle trebling alongside the Infiniti Q50 was able to avoid the crash and speed off without stopping, leading authorities to believe that the two vehicles were involved in a drag race. The driver of the dump truck was uninjured in the accident. (New York Daily News)
