Ian McDonald, Jr., Brooklyn 20-Year-Old, Found Dead in Possible Hit-and-Run

The New Lots resident and college football player was found dead on the side of the Prospect Park Expressway.

EAST NEW YORK, NY — A 20-year-old New Lots man was found dead on Sunday along the Prospect Park Expressway in Windsor Terrace, police said.

Ian McDonald, Jr. was found at about 5:30 a.m. on Dec. 4 on the shoulder of the road near Exit 3, which is where the expressway passes Prospect Park West, according to police.

First responders found McDonald unconscious and with severe body trauma, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police sources told Pix11 that McDonald's injuries seemed to have been caused by a possible hit-and-run. The medical examiner will determine his cause of death.

McDonald was a linebacker for the football team at Morrisville State College in upstate New York. The school's college athletics Facebook page posted on behalf of McDonald, Jr. after learning about his death:

McDonald "will be remembered as a vocal and emotional competitor who made big plays at OL, FB and DL during his time here," the team wrote. "There will be a gathering and vigil taking place this evening from 5-7pm in STUAC as we remember our fallen brother and son. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ian's friends and family during this difficult time. Gone, but not forgotten. #91"
