BROOKLYN, NY — A fire in a Brooklyn apartment building left five people hurt, authorities said.
A lithium-ion battery likely sparked the early Tuesday blaze inside 120 Menahan St. in Bushwick, FDNY officials said.
Firefighters rushed to the seven-story building near Central Avenue about 4:45 a.m., authorities said.

They pulled two people from the window of a second-floor apartment where the blaze began, ABC7 reported.
Another person was rescued from the building's stairwell, while two people on the seventh floor suffered smoke inhalation, according to the report.

Medics rushed three people to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center and two to New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell hospital, authorities said.
A lithium-ion battery and an e-bike were found inside the apartment, according to the FDNY and the ABC7 report.
Lithium-ion e-bike batteries were linked to 220 fires last year, fire officials said.
