Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:

  1. Just before 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, 38-year old Joel Mangal hurled a Molotov cocktail through the window of a Brooklyn deli. Video footage shows the suspect lighting the incendiary outside the deli before throwing it through the storefront on Nostrand Avenue. One victim received medical attention for non-life threatening injuries sustained in the attack. (NBC New York)
  2. 44-year-old Brooklyn resident James Vincent faces up to 15 years in prison following the conviction in a hate crime in 2018. Vincent attacked Rabbi Menachem Moskowitz, choking and punching the victim, outside of his synagogue while shouting antisemitic slurs. Vincent will be sentenced on Dec. 13. (Algemeiner)
  3. The Environmental Protection Agency has announced its proposal to designate the Meeker Avenue Plume in Greenpoint as a federal Superfund site. The EPA's Superfund Program is meant to remediate the most highly polluted sites throughout the United States. Poisonous fumes from the Meeker Avenue Plume have been detected in buildings spanning an approximately 45-block area throughout Greenpoint and East Williamsburg. (Gothamist)
