Here are the top stories today in Brooklyn:

  1. Mayor Bill de Blasio, Brooklyn Bridge Park president, and other elected officials cut the ribbon on the final section of the Brooklyn Bridge Park. The flexible public plaza space added two acres of land to the existing park and connects the DUMBO section of the park with the southern piers. (nyc.gov)
  2. CORRECTION: Ms. Swan Williams is not nor has ever been employed by the New York City Department of Probation; from the department, "The New York City Department of Probation (DOP) does not have a record of a Swan Williams employed or retired with the agency." A woman was arrested on late Wednesday night in Brooklyn after she allegedly choked a NYPD police officer who was trying to arrest her son for stealing beer. The 47-year-old was attempting to protect her 26-year-old son in her own home where police had chased him following the robbery. Swan Williams and her adult son were both placed under arrest.
