How to Donate Christmas Toys to Young Kids of Salaya Figueroa, Killed in East NY Shooting
Brooklyn Multi-Service Community Center shifted its toy drive to help the 3 children of Salaya Figueroa, who was fatally shot this month.

BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN — Brooklyn Multi-Service Community Center's holiday toy drive has shifted focus this year to help the three young children of 27-year-old Salaya Figueroa, who was shot dead outside the Pink Houses housing development in East New York this month.
Figueroa leaves behind three children who are four, eight, and nine years old.
"The family are having tough times and we want to show our support and reduce their stress," said Amoni Brown, founder and board chair of the community center. "This will be the first Christmas or holiday without their mother."

Brown said so far there has been an outpouring of community support for Figueroa's family, including donations by a deputy chief in an undisclosed court and a court officer, he said. The entire community center board will also be donating toys.
A GoFundMe has also been set up to help Figueroa's children and to fund her funeral.
