  1. The wind howled all night, and the rain became heavy at times as a severe storm blew into the tri-state area overnight and into Friday morning. Thousands of customers woke up without power in New York and New Jersey. Temps were expected to plunge after the storms pass. (WPIX 11 New York)
  2. Housing lottery! "The affordable housing lottery has launched for 874 Willoughby Ave., a nine-story mixed-use building in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Designed by Stavros Malliaros, the structure yields 93 residences, ground-floor commercial space, and 42 parking spaces. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 28 units for residents at 80 to 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $35,760 to $139,620," reported New York YIMBY. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than April 18. (New York YIMBY)
  3. A fight between Brooklyn roommates turned deadly when one pulled a knife, police said Friday. It wasn’t immediately clear what sparked the violence that ended with a 45-year-old man dead with stab wounds to the chest around 7:06 p.m. Thursday. (Subscription: New York Daily News)
  4. A break-dancer dancing for tips was stabbed twice in the thigh on a Brooklyn-bound L train Thursday after 2 p.m. at the 14th Street and 3rd Avenue subway station. The suspect is believed to be homeless; he has been described as a male in his 40's. The dancer was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he was said to be stable. (NBC New York)
  5. Three Guys from Brooklyn in Bay Ridge now accepts EBT — Electronic Benefits Transfer — for same-day delivery. They are helping their community, "customers on government assistance can finally use their benefits to access fresh food delivered to their doors," WPIX 11 New York reported. According to the City Harvest, there are over 400,000 Brooklyn residents affected by food insecurity. (WPIX 11 New York)
