Brooklyn Police Shoot Man They Say Was Stabbing Roommate
A man has been arrested after the incident.

CYPRESS HILLS, BROOKLYN — Police in Brooklyn shot a man Sunday night who was trying to stab his roommate while authorities were at their apartment conducting an investigation, the NYPD said.
Authorities arrived at the home on Shepherd Avenue in Cypress Hills around 9 p.m. for reports of a fight, according to Chief Jeffrey B. Maddrey, the Commanding Officer of Patrol Borough Brooklyn North.
As police were investigating at the scene, one of the roommates came back inside the home and started attacking another with a knife, Maddrey said. He stabbed the roommate at least twice in the arm with the knife, which is pictured above, Maddrey said.

Then, one of the officer drew his weapon and fired at the knife-wielding man once, "to protect the roommate who was being stabbed," Maddrey said. The man, later identified as 31-year-old Francis DeJesus, was hit and fell and then taken to Brookdale Hospital for observation, Maddrey said.
The roommate who was stabbed went to Jamaica Hospital, police said, and is in stable condition.
