Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:
- The NYPD is investigating the death of a woman found with face trauma inside of her Brooklyn apartment on Wednesday evening. Officers responded to a 911 call at 1142 Lenox Road, where they found 65-year-old Angelina Grimes face down and unresponsive in her apartment. The investigation remains ongoing, and no arrests have yet been made. (AMNY)
- Rising gas prices have had a clear impact on Brooklyn drivers. Prices are expected to average $3.06 per gallon this year, compared to last year's $3 per gallon, and many Brooklynites who rely on gasoline for their commute or occupation have been forced to be more conscious of their gas spending. Many residents are relying on public transportation fares remaining low in order to avoid having to drive for their commutes. (Brooklyn Paper)
- A new rendering has been released for a new 52-story mixed-use skyscraper at 589 Fulton St. The Downtown Brooklyn development will yield 465,000 square feet of residential space between 592 units. There will also be office space, a recreation and indoor sports facility, and cellar levels, however no construction timeline has been announced. (New York YIMBY)
