Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:

  1. NYC's first-ever co-working/play space, BrookLearn, just opened in Carroll Gardens. The 35,000 square-foot space features a state-of-the-art work space for adults, and an indoor play structure targeted for children aged 0 to 5. (Time Out New York Kids)
  2. Red Hook residents are growing increasingly frustrated by the ongoing closure of the Red Hook Recreation Center. The rec center has been closed since March 2020 and was one of three similar sites that was damaged during a September storm that kept it closed. A staff member at the center, who asked not to be named, claimed that the building would be closed completely and that all staff were being reassigned. (Brooklyn Paper)
  3. A Brooklyn nonprofit teamed up with a swimming school to host its first free class at a new recreation center. The former site of the Bedford Union Armory, the Major Owens Community Center, hosted the Tank Proof nonprofit and Imagine Swimming to provide the free lessons. (CBS New York)
