Here are the top stories today in Brooklyn:
- NYPD detectives are searching for a gunman responsible for a daytime shooting while riding a CitiBike. The armed assault occurred on Jan. 6 near Dumont Avenue in Cypress Hills and left a 28-year-old man injured. Witnesses have described a verbal altercation between the two men before the scene turned violent, and the suspect fired seven shots on the victim, hitting him once in the hip. (AMNY)
- An NYPD cruiser crashed into two parked cars early Wednesday morning on Coney Island Avenue. The two vehicles were unoccupied at the time of the incident, and both officers in the cruiser were treated for minor, non-life-threatening injuries. The circumstances surrounding this incident have not been fully disclosed by the NYPD. (PIX 11)
- Former employees of Gloria's, a popular Caribbean eatery in Crown Heights, have opened a new establishment just a few doors down at 770 Nostrand Ave. Gee's will feature many of the same Trinidadian classic dishes as its predecessor. Gloria's was opened by Trinidadian immigrant Gloria Wilson, who was forced to close her business in 2020 after a decades-long legal battle over ownership of her building. (Eater NY)
