BROOKLYN, NY — A 29-year-old woman was arrested after police say she drove drunk and without a license, slamming into a Brooklyn moped rider and killing him.

The crash happened around 4:45 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Third Avenue and 67th Street in Bay Ridge. According to police, Leslie Moreno, 29, of Sheepshead Bay, was behind the wheel of a 2013 Acura TSX when she hit a moped driven by 22-year-old Joel Mota of Sunset Park.

A 21-year-old was riding as Mota’s passenger, police added.

Police said Moreno was driving west on 67th Street when Mota, heading south on Third Avenue, crashed into the passenger side of her car. He suffered serious head and torso injuries and was taken to NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn, where he later died.

Mota was just a few blocks from home when the crash occurred. His 21-year-old passenger, also a man, was taken to NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn with multiple fractures to his left arm and leg and was listed in stable condition, police said.
